Lewis Henry (born June 8, 1885 in Elmira , New York , †  July 23, 1941 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was an American politician . In 1922 and 1923 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lewis Henry attended the public schools of his homeland and then until 1904 the Elmira Academy . He then studied until 1909 at Cornell University in Ithaca . After a subsequent law degree at Columbia University in New York City and his admission to the bar in 1912, he began to work in Elmira in this profession. Between 1914 and 1920 he was mayor of the first district of Elmira. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . In 1920 he was a delegate to their regional party congress for New York State.

After the resignation of MP Alanson B. Houghton , Henry was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the 37th seat of New York , where he took up his new mandate on April 11, 1922. Since he was no longer nominated by his party for the regular congressional elections in 1922 , he was only able to end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1923 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Lewis Henry practiced again as a lawyer in Elmira. Until 1939 he was also president of the Oriental Consolidated Mining Company . He died on July 23, 1941 in Boston and was buried in Elmira.
