Edward J. Elsaesser

Edward Julius Elsaesser (born March 10, 1904 in Buffalo , New York , †  January 7, 1983 in Williamsville , New York) was an American politician . Between 1945 and 1949 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edward Elsaesser attended the public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Buffalo and his admission to the bar in 1927, he began to work in Buffalo in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1937 and 1945 he was a member of his party's state executive. In the 1944 congressional elections , Elsaesser was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 43rd  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Daniel A. Reed on January 3, 1945 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 1949 . During this time, the Second World War ended and the Cold War began .

Edward Elsaesser was not re-elected in 1948; In 1950 he sought unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for that year's congressional elections. After his time in the US House of Representatives, he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on January 7, 1983 in his last place of residence, Williamsville, where he was also buried.
