John C. Davies, 1949

John Clay Davies II (born May 1, 1920 in Albany , New York , †  June 17, 2002 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) was an American politician . Between 1949 and 1951 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Davies attended Camden High School and then studied at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa . He also graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton . Between 1940 and 1941 he published the Camden Chronicle newspaper. In the following years he worked for various companies and government agencies in public relations. He worked in this branch in Albany until 1943. He then worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp in New York City until 1946 . , also in the field of public relations. Between 1946 and 1948 he was Vice President of Earle Ferris Co. Inc. Since 1948 he was again active in public relations in Utica .

Politically, Davies joined the Democratic Party . In the 1948 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 35th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Republican Hadwen C. Fuller on January 3, 1949 . Since he was not confirmed in 1950, he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1951 . This was shaped by the events of the Cold War .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Davies worked intermittently as a writer. He also worked as a public relations executive in San Juan . He died there on June 17, 2002.
