Charles Anthony Buckley (born June 23, 1890 in New York City , † January 22, 1967 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1965 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Anthony Buckley attended public schools. From 1914 he was a building contractor and client. Between 1918 and 1923 he served on the Board of Aldermen in New York City. He became a tax appraiser in New York in 1923 - a position he held until 1929. Between 1929 and 1933 he was a chamberlain in New York City. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1934 congressional elections for the 74th Congress , Buckley was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 23rd  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Frank Oliver on January 4, 1935 . He was re-elected four times in a row. In 1944 he ran in the 25th constituency of New York for the 79th Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Ralph A. Gamble on January 4, 1945 . He was re-elected three times in a row. In the congressional elections of 1952 for the 83rd Congress he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the 24th constituency of New York, where he succeeded Isidore Dollinger on January 4, 1953 . He was re-elected four times in a row. In 1962 he ran in the 23rd constituency of New York for the 88th Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Jacob H. Gilbert on January 4, 1963 . He suffered upon a new re-election bid in 1964 , a defeat and withdrew from the after January 3, 1965 Congress of. During his time in Congress, he chaired the Committee on Pensions ( 78th and 79th Congress) and the Committee on Public Works ( 82nd and 84th to 88th Congress).

He died on January 22, 1967 in New York City. His body was then interred in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla .
