Michael Angelo "Mike" Arcuri (born June 11, 1959 in Utica , New York ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the United States House of Representatives for New York State from 2007 to 2011 .

biography

Arcuri was born in Utica to Carmen and Elizabeth Arcuri. His high school Accounts 1977, he acquired at the Thomas R. Proctor High School in his hometown. He graduated from University at Albany in 1981 and New York Law School in 1984 . Arcuri was then licensed to work as a lawyer. In 1986 he finally opened his own law firm in the city he was born in, where he still lives today.

Arcuri was elected to the US House of Representatives for the 24th New York Congress District in 2007 with 53.9% of the vote. He succeeded the Republican Sherwood Boehlert . He defended his seat in the 2008 elections with 52% of the vote against the Republican Richard L. Hanna . Hanna was able to take his seat from him in the 2010 elections and has been representing the 24th district since January 2011. Arcuri received 46.7% of the vote. Most recently, he was a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Rules .

Mike Arcuri is Roman Catholic , married to Sabrina Dean-Arcuri and has two children.
