James V. Ganly

James Vincent Ganly (born September 13, 1878 in New York City , † September 7, 1923 there ) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1921 and in 1923 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Vincent Ganly attended public schools and Packard Business College . He then went into oil, real estate, and auto businesses. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1907 . In 1914, he became the first county clerk in Bronx County - a post he held until 1918. This time was overshadowed by the First World War . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1918 congressional election for the 66th Congress , Ganly was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 24th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Benjamin L. Fairchild on March 4, 1919 . He suffered a defeat in his re-election in 1920 and then left the Congress after March 3, 1921 . In 1922 he ran for the 68th Congress . After a successful election, he succeeded Benjamin L. Fairchild on March 4, 1923. He died in a car accident in New York City on September 7, 1923. His body was interred in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Borough of Bronx.
