Michael Robert "Mike" McNulty (born September 16, 1947 in Troy , New York ) is an American politician . Between 1989 and 2009 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael McNulty was born in Rensselaer County about two years after the end of World War II . He graduated from St. Joseph's Institute in Barrytown in 1965 . Between 1967 and 1968 he attended the Loyola University Rome Center in Rome ( Italy ). He did his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester ( Massachusetts ). Between 1969 and 1977 he was Town Supervisor on Green Island . During this time he attended the Hill School of Insurance in New York City in 1970 . He was Mayor of Green Island between 1977 and 1983. He then sat in the New York State Assembly between 1983 and 1988 . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1988 congressional elections for the 101st Congress , McNulty was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 23rd  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Samuel S. Stratton on January 4, 1989 . He was re-elected once. In 1992 he ran for the 103rd Congress in the 21st constituency of New York . After a successful election, he succeeded Hamilton Fish IV on January 4, 1993 . He was re-elected seven times in a row. Since he on a run again in 2008 renounced, he left the after January 3, 2009 Congress of.
