Ludwig Teller (born June 22, 1911 in New York City , † October 4, 1965 ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1957 and 1961 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ludwig Teller was about three years before the outbreak of World War I in the Borough of Manhattan born. He attended public schools. Teller graduated from New York University in 1936 . He studied law . After receiving his license to practice bar in 1936, he began practicing in New York City.

During the Second World War in 1942 he served as an expert consultant for the National Labor Relations Board in the War Department . He was also a trial examiner for the New York State Labor Relations Board between 1942 and 1946 . He also signed up for the US Navy . He held the rank of senior lieutenant there . Between 1943 and 1945, he first served as a communications officer in the Atlantic convoy and later as a liaison officer in the Ninth Naval District in Chicago ( Illinois ). After the end of the war he was in the United States Navy Reserve , where he held the rank of Lieutenant Commander .

Between 1947 and 1950 he was employed on the faculty of New York University Law School and in 1950 was Professor of Law at New York Law School .

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . He was a member of the New York State Assembly between 1950 and 1956 . In the 1956 congressional elections for the 85th Congress , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 20th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Irwin D. Davidson on January 4, 1957 . He was re-elected once. In 1960 he suffered in both the Democratic nomination as a candidate of the Liberal for the 87th Congress each defeat and resigned after 3 January 1961 from the Congress of.

After his time in Congress he resumed his practice as a lawyer in New York City, which he practiced there until his death on October 4, 1965. His body was buried in Union Fields Cemetery in Jamaica ( Queens ).
