Royal Hurlburt Weller
Royal Hurlburt Weller (born July 2, 1881 in New York City , † March 1, 1929 there ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Royal Hurlburt Weller attended public schools and the City College of New York . In 1901 he graduated from New York Law School . After receiving his bar license in 1902, he began practicing in New York City. In 1911, he became assistant district attorney in Manhattan - a post he held until 1917. Then he worked as a lawyer again. He served as Counsel to the Alien Property Custodian in 1918 and 1919 . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .
In the 1922 congressional elections for the 68th Congress Weller was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 21st constituency of New York , where he succeeded Martin C. Ansorge on March 4, 1923 . He was re-elected three times in a row but died before the end of his third term. His body was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery .
