Nan Alison Sutter Hayworth (born December 14, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American politician . From 2011 to 2013, it acted as a Republican to the state of New York in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nan Alison Sutter, her maiden name, grew up in Munster ( Indiana ). In 1977 she graduated from the local high school. She then studied at Princeton University until 1981 . This was followed by a medical degree at the Medical College of Cornell University in Ithaca until 1985 . She specializes in ophthalmology and worked in this profession between 1989 and 2005. In 1981 she married the doctor Scott D. Hayworth, the head of the Mount Kisco Medical Group . The couple have two sons.

In the 2010 congressional elections , Hayworth was elected to the US House of Representatives for Republicans in the 19th  constituency of New York, where she succeeded the previously defeated Democrat John Hall on January 3, 2011 . Since she lost to Sean Patrick Maloney in 2012 , she left office on January 3, 2013. Nan Hayworth served on the Finance Committee and three sub-committees. She is currently considering running again for a mandate in her previous seat in the next regular congressional election in 2014 .
