Elias Whitmore

Elias Whitmore (born March 2, 1772 in Pembroke , New Hampshire Colony , † December 26, 1853 in Windsor , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1825 and 1827 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Elias Whitmore was born in Merrimack County , then part of Hillsborough County , about three years before the Revolutionary War broke out . He completed his preliminary studies. Then he moved to New York and settled in Windsor. He went about commercial business.

As a result of a fragmentation of the Democratic Republican Party before and during the presidency of John Quincy Adams (1825-1829), he joined the National Republican Party . In the 1824 congressional elections for the 19th Congress , Whitmore was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 21st  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Lot Clark on March 4, 1825 . He retired from the after March 3, 1827 Congress of.

After his time at Congress, he returned to Windsor to his previous business activities, which he continued until his death. He died there on December 26, 1853 and was buried in the village cemetery.
