Solomon Bundy (born May 22, 1823 in Oxford , New York , † January 13, 1889 there ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1877 and 1879 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Solomon Bundy was born in Chenango County about eight years after the end of the British-American War . He attended community schools and the Oxford Academy . After that he taught for several years. He also went about commercial business. He studied law . After receiving his license to practice bar in 1859, he began practicing at Oxford. During his student days, he served as a judge of the peace and clerk on the Chenango County Board of Supervisors . In 1862, he became the Chenango County District Attorney - a post he held until 1865. This time was overshadowed by the civil war. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1876 ​​congressional elections for the 45th Congress , Bundy was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 21st  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Samuel Franklin Miller on March 4, 1877 . After his time at the congress he worked as a lawyer again. He died in Oxford on January 13, 1889 and was buried in Riverview Cemetery .
