William Henry Draper (born June 24, 1841 in Rochdale , Massachusetts , † December 7, 1921 in Troy , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1913 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Henry Draper was born in Rochdale, Worcester County , about five years before the outbreak of the Mexican-American War . His family then moved to Troy in 1847. There he attended public schools until 1856. Then he went about commercial business. He served as the trustee of the Village of Lansingburgh for ten years . Between 1896 and 1900 he held the post of Commissioner of Jurors in Rensselaer County . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1900 congressional elections for the 57th Congress , Draper was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 19th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded Aaron Van Schaick Cochrane on March 4, 1901 . In 1902 he ran for the 22nd constituency of New York. After a successful election, he succeeded Lucius Littauer on March 4, 1903 . He was re-elected four times. Since he on a run again in 1912 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1913 Congress of.

After his time at the congress, he went to the manufacture of rope and cord . During this time he was President of WH Draper & Sons . He died in Troy on December 7, 1921 and was then buried in Oakwood Cemetery .
