Leo Isacson (born April 20, 1910 in New York City , † September 28, 1996 ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1948 and 1949 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Leo Isacson attended public schools. He graduated from New York University in 1931 and its law school in 1933. After receiving his bar license in 1934, he began practicing in New York City. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1945 and 1946 . Politically, he was a member of the American Labor Party . He was elected to the 80th Congress in a by-election in the 24th  constituency of New York to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Benjamin J. Rabin . He took his seat in the US House of Representatives on February 17, 1948. In the 1948 congressional elections for the 81st Congress , he suffered a defeat and then resigned from Congress on January 3, 1949 . After his time in Congress he practiced as a lawyer again. He joined the Democratic Party . In 1968 he took part as a delegate to the National Democratic Convention . He moved to Florida in 1970 . There he was Professor of Political Science at Nova Southeastern University . He died on September 28, 1996.
