Daniel Benjamin "Dan" Maffei (born July 4, 1968 in Syracuse , New York ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 2009 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2015 he was a member of the United States House of Representatives for New York State .

biography

His high school Accounts made, born in Syracuse Maffei in 1986 at the Nottingham Senior High School . He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University in 1990 , followed by a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in 1991 and, finally, a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University in 1995 . After graduating from Columbia University, he worked for WSYR-TV , an ABC spin-off in Syracuse, as a reporter and producer for 2 years . Prior to his election to the US House of Representatives, he was a visiting professor at Syracuse University and a vice president of Pinnacle Capital Management (a financial services company).

In the 2008 House of Representatives elections , he was able to take the seat of Republican James T. Walsh . Walsh represented New York's 25th Congressional District for exactly 20 years. Maffei prevailed against Walsh with 54.5 percent of the vote. Most recently he was a member of the Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on the Judiciary . The Republican Ann Marie Buerkle was able to beat Maffei with 50.2 percent of the vote in the 2010 House of Representatives elections and represented the 25th district from 2011 on. In the 2012 election he ran again against the incumbent Buerkle and was able to win back his seat with about 49:43 percent of the vote. From January 3, 2013 to January 3, 2015, he was only able to complete one more term of office, as he was again defeated by the Republican John Katko in the 2014 elections.

Dan Maffei lives in DeWitt with his wife Abby Davidson-Maffei and is of Roman Catholic faith .
