Paul A. Fino

Paul Albert Fino (born December 15, 1913 in Bronx , New York City , † June 16, 2009 in North Woodmere , Nassau County , New York ) was an American politician .

Fino attended for two years the Law School of St. John's University from New York City, and completed his studies thereat 1937th He was inducted into the New York State Bar in 1938 and began practicing in New York City. In 1940 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the New York State Assembly . From March 1943 to December 1944 he held the post of assistant state attorney general . After that, Fino was a member of the New York Senate from January 1945 to May 1950 .

In 1952 he was elected Republican to Congress and represented there from January 3, 1953 to December 31, 1968, when he resigned to become a judge on the New York Supreme Court, his home state in the United States House of Representatives . Fino took up his new judge's office on January 1, 1969. During the three years that he spent in the judgment seat, he was known for his harsh sentences.

Within his party, he acted as a delegate at the New York Republican Party conventions from 1940 to 1966, and at the Republican National Conventions in 1960, 1964 and 1968.
