Richard F. McKiniry
Richard Francis McKiniry (born March 23, 1878 in New York City , † May 30, 1950 in Yonkers , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1919 and 1921 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Richard Francis McKiniry attended public schools. He graduated from the College of St. Francis Xavier in New York City and from the New York Law School . After receiving his license to practice bar in 1899, he began practicing in New York City. Between 1914 and 1917 he was assistant district attorney in Bronx County and between 1917 and 1919 Secretary of the New York Supreme Court for the 1st District. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .
In the 1918 congressional election for the 66th Congress , McKiniry was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 23rd constituency of New York , where he succeeded Daniel C. Oliver on March 4, 1919 . In 1920 he suffered a defeat in his renewed candidacy and then left the Congress after March 3, 1921 .
On January 1, 1923, he was appointed magistrate of New York City - a post he held until his resignation for health reasons on August 15, 1943. He died in Yonkers on May 30, 1950 and was then buried in Calvary Cemetery , Long Island City .
