John Katko
John Michael Katko (born November 9, 1962 in Camillus , Onondaga County , New York ) is an American politician . Since January 2015, he has represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
In 1980, John Katko graduated from Bishop Ludden High School in Syracuse . He then studied at Niagara University in Lewiston until 1984 . After studying law at Syracuse University and being admitted to the bar in 1988, he began practicing this profession. Between 1991 and 1995 he worked for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission . He then worked from 1995 to 2014 in various positions for the Federal Ministry of Justice . Politically, he joined the Republican Party .
In the 2014 congressional election , Katko was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 24th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Democrat Dan Maffei on January 3, 2015 , whom he voted 59:39 Percent of the vote had defeated. Re-elected in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States , which will meet on January 3, 2017 . His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
