Benjamin Irving Taylor (born December 21, 1877 in New York City , † September 5, 1946 in Harrison , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Benjamin Irving Taylor attended public schools. He graduated from New Rochelle High School . He then studied law at Columbia Law School in New York City, where he graduated in 1899. He began practicing in Port Chester , Westchester County, after receiving his license to practice the same year . Between 1905 and 1913 he was a supervisor at Harrison. He was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1912 congressional elections for the 63rd Congress , Taylor was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 25th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Theron Akin on March 4, 1913 . He suffered in his renewed candidacy in 1914 a defeat and withdrew from the after March 3, 1915 Congress of.

After his time in Congress he practiced as a lawyer in Port Chester again. In 1921 he was re-elected as a Harrison supervisor - a post he held until December 1945, except for two years. He died in Harrison about a year after the end of World War II . His body was buried in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla .
