Addison Henry Laflin (born October 24, 1823 in Lee , Massachusetts , † September 24, 1878 in Pittsfield , Massachusetts) was an American politician . Between 1865 and 1871 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Addison Henry Laflin was born in Berkshire County about eight years after the end of the British-American War . He attended community schools. In 1843 he graduated from Williams College , Williamstown . Laflin moved to Herkimer County in 1849 , where he made paper. He served in the New York Senate in 1858 and 1859 . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the congressional election of 1864 for the 39th Congress , Laflin was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 20th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Ambrose W. Clark on March 4, 1865 . He was re-elected twice in a row. Since he has a third re-election bid in 1870 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1871 Congress of. During his congressional days , he attended the Republican State Convention in 1867 as a delegate .

President Ulysses S. Grant appointed him Naval Officer in New York Harbor on April 3, 1871 - a post he held until his resignation in 1877. Laflin died in Pittsfield on September 24, 1878 and was then buried in Oakwood Cemetery , Syracuse .
