Augustus P. Hascall

Augustus Porter Hascall (born June 24, 1800 in Hinsdale , Berkshire County , Massachusetts , †  June 27, 1872 in Le Roy , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Augustus Hascall attended both public and private schools. Then he worked in surveying. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began practicing this profession in Le Roy. There he also worked as a justice of the peace and mayor. He also became a judge at the local court of appeal. Politically, he joined the Whig Party , founded in the mid-1830s .

In the congressional elections of 1850 , Hascall was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 33rd  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Harvey Putnam on March 4, 1851 . Until March 3, 1853 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . This was shaped by the events leading up to the civil war . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Hascall returned to practice as a lawyer. In 1858 he became trustee of Le Roy. He died there on June 27, 1872.
