Gary A. Lee

Gary Alcide Lee (born August 18, 1933 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American politician . Between 1979 and 1983 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Gary Lee attended the public schools in Corning and then through 1951 the local Northside High School . Between 1952 and 1956 he served in the United States Navy . He then studied until 1960 at Colgate University in Hamilton . He then studied until 1963 at Cornell University in Ithaca . Between 1963 and 1970 he worked in education in administration and as a consultant. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Until 1974 he held various local offices in his home country. He also took part as a delegate at the regional party conventions of the Republicans of his state between 1966 and 1970. From 1974 to 1978 he was a member of the New York State Assembly .

In the 1978 congressional election , Lee was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 33rd  constituency of New York , where he succeeded William F. Walsh on January 3, 1979 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1983 . In 1982 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party. After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, he was Vice President of IC Industries, Inc. Today he is the Republican District Chairman in Lee County , Florida .
