Edwin R. Reynolds

Edwin Ruthvin Reynolds (born February 16, 1816 in Fort Ann , Washington County , New York , †  July 4, 1908 in Albion , New York) was an American politician . In 1860 and 1861 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edwin Reynolds enjoyed a classic school education. He was then Principal at Albion Academy for six years . Between 1843 and 1845 he was a county councilor in Orleans County . York. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1843, he began to work in this profession in Albion in 1846. In the 1850s he joined the Republican Party , which was then founded .

After the death of MP Silas Mainville Burroughs , Reynolds was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the 31st seat of New York , where he took up his new mandate on December 5, 1860. By March 3, 1861 he was able to end the current legislative period in Congress . This time was shaped by the events in the immediate run-up to the civil war .

Between 1864 and 1868 Edwin Reynolds was a judge and district councilor in home Orleans County. After that he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on July 4, 1908 in Albion, where he was also buried.
