Paul von Buol called the Lux (* 1481 in Davos ; † May 18, 1567 in Junkersboden, Davos Frauenkirch ), was a Swiss nobleman (imperial baron) of the Buol family .

Paul (* 1478 or 1481) was the second son of the Davos captain Hans von Buol (1440–1490) and Elisabeth Accola (* around 1445).

The marriage with Anna Mosteiner had three children:

In the Davos Chronicle it is mentioned: He was the father of 25 children, of whom 14, most of them sons, 9 sons, 5 daughters, tall and tall, were married at his life. The children, enigkli, also ur enigkli, were 300 people .

Career

Paul von Buol was one of the most respected men in the country, was Landammann of the Davos region and in 1527 captain or federal governor of the Ten Court Association . Until 1565 he moved in this office with Colonel Johann Guler. He served the French king on various war occasions. Ultimately, as a colonel, he commanded all the Graubünden troops in French service. In 1531 in the Second Müsserkrieg in the storm on Morbegno he was badly wounded. He was ambassador to France and in 1557 Podestà to Morbegno.

He died in his house in Junkersboden (Heimwesen opposite Frauenkirch on the left side of the valley) on Pentecost Sunday in 1567 at the age of 89. The chronicler writes: A highly intelligent, well-founded, eloquent, virtuous and well-wise man, rich and honest with rich and poor, peaceful with everyone. Despite his age, he was still a handsome, strong man. God give him the everlasting reward.

He was buried in the St. Johann church in Davos-Platz.
