Charles H. Holmes

Charles Horace Holmes (born October 24, 1827 in Albion , New York , † October 2, 1874 there ) was an American politician . Between 1870 and 1871 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Horace Holmes attended public schools, the Albion Academy, and then graduated from Albany Law School . After receiving his license to practice law in 1855, he began practicing in Albion. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . He was elected to the 41st Congress in a by-election in the 28th  constituency of New York to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Noah Davis . He took his seat in the US House of Representatives on December 6, 1870 but was eliminated on March 3, 1871. the Congress from. After his time in Congress he practiced as a lawyer in Albion again, where he died on October 2, 1874. His body was then interred in Mount Albion Cemetery .
