Eric James Joseph Massa (born September 16, 1959 in Charleston , South Carolina ) is an American politician . In 2009 and 2010 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Graduated Eric Massa in the 1981 United States Naval Academy in Annapolis ( Maryland ). He then served in the US Navy until 2001 . After completing his military service, he moved to Corning, New York State, where he worked as a project manager for the Corning Glass Company . Politically, he was originally a member of the Republican Party . Since he did not agree with the Iraq war and there were various other disagreements, he switched to the Democrats . In 2006 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the 2008 congressional elections , Massa was then elected with a narrow majority in the 29th  constituency of New York to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Randy Kuhl on January 3, 2009 , whom he had two years earlier had been inferior. He was able to exercise his mandate until his resignation on March 8, 2010. Massa was a member of the Agriculture Committee , the Armed Forces Committee, and the Homeland Security Committee . He was also a member of six sub-committees.

He officially resigned for health reasons after a previous cancer recurrence. However, the ethics committee was investigating him for sexual harassment at the time. Some of his campaign donations were also later exposed to abuse. Among other things, he used it to pay his wife's salary. Today he lives in seclusion in Corning. Since his resignation, he has persistently refused press interviews.
