David P. Richardson

David Plunket Richardson (born May 28, 1833 in Macedon , Wayne County , New York , †  June 21, 1904 in Angelica , New York) was an American politician . Between 1879 and 1883 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Richardson attended public schools in his home country. In 1856 he graduated from Yale College . After a subsequent law degree in Rochester and his 1859 admission as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. From 1861 he served in the Union Army for over three years during the Civil War . From 1866 he lived in the Angelica Ward in Allegany County .

Politically, Richardson joined the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1878 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 29th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded John N. Hungerford on March 4, 1879 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1883 .

In 1882, Richardson renounced another congressional candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on June 21, 1904 in Angelica, where he was also buried.
