Martin Grover

Martin Grover (born October 20, 1811 in Hartwick , Otsego County , New York , †  August 23, 1875 in Angelica , New York) was an American politician . Between 1845 and 1847 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Martin Grover attended the public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar, he began to work in Angelica, Allegany County in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1844 Grover was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 30th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded William Spring Hubbell on March 4, 1845 . Until March 3, 1847, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . These were shaped by the events of the Mexican-American War .

In 1853 Grover ran unsuccessfully for the office of Attorney General of New York. From 1859 until his death on August 23, 1875, he held several judicial posts in his home state.
