Davis Carpenter

Davis Carpenter (born December 25, 1799 in Walpole , Cheshire County , New Hampshire , †  October 22, 1878 in Brockport , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1853 and 1855 he represented the state of New York in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1824, Davis Carpenter graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont . He first studied medicine. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began working in this profession in Brockport. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Whig Party .

After the resignation of the MP Azariah Boody Carpenter was elected in the by-election for the 29th seat of New York as his successor in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on November 8, 1853. Since he was not confirmed in 1854, he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1855 . This time was shaped by the events leading up to the civil war .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Davis Carpenter practiced as a doctor in Brockport, where he also died on October 22, 1878.
