history
Cheshire was one of five original New Hampshire counties from 1789. It was named after Cheshire , England .
One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the Harrisville Historic District . A total of 151 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 15, 2018).
