  • La Paz / Bolivia : The Bolivian government under President Evo Morales begins the official gradual registration of citizens for free universal health care, Sistema Único de Salud (SUS), which is to be introduced in March 2019. Health Minister Adolfo Zarate announces that it will cover around 5.8 million residents between the ages of 5 and 60 who have not yet received any health insurance . The budget is therefore the equivalent of around 230 million US dollars. The president of the medical school, Erwin Viruez, sees a necessary need of at least one billion US dollars. The medical association is also calling for more staff for implementation and a better infrastructure.
