Saha Airlines (originally Saha Airline , at times also Saha Air ) is an Iranian airline based in Tehran and based at Tehran-Mehrabad Airport .
history
The company was founded in 1990 under the name Saha Airline as a state-owned company to carry out military contract flights for the Iranian Air Force (IRIAF). Flight operations began at the end of the same year. At the beginning of 1991, Saha Airline operated a Boeing 707-300C , Boeing 747-100SF and Boeing 747-200F . The three machines had previously been used by the IRIAF. The company initially operated exclusively as a cargo airline and operated, among other things, weekly flights between Tehran and Singapore . In the summer of 1992 Saha Airline put their first used Fokker F-27s into service, with which they started chartered passenger traffic in Germany. At the same time, the company was renamed Saha Airline s . In 1998 another renaming took place, whereby the company was named Saha Air . At that time the fleet consisted of two Fokker F-27-400M, two Fokker F-27-600, five Boeing 707-300C, one Boeing 747-100SF and three Boeing 747-200F.
On July 27, 2012, the airline's license was temporarily revoked by the Iranian Aviation Authority due to safety concerns. Flight operations were resumed in August 2012. After the operation of the two Boeing 707s was suspended in April 2013 without notice, no more flights were carried out until the end of 2016.
In November 2016, the airline received two used Boeing 737-300s with which it resumed regular service. In addition, two Boeing 747-100 / -200 were used as cargo planes. In 2017 the Boeing 747-100 was retired and another Boeing 737-300 was added to the fleet.

Incidents
- On April 26, 1992, a Fokker F-27 400M crashed on a flight to Tehran near Saveh. 39 people were killed.
- On April 20, 2005, a Saha Airlines Boeing 707-3J9C ( aircraft registration EP-SHE ) had an accident on the flight from Kish Island to Tehran. When the Boeing touched down on runway 29L at Tehran-Mehrabad Airport , problems with the landing gear caused the aircraft to roll over the runway end and into the Kan River. During the subsequent evacuation, 3 of the 157 passengers lost their lives because they drowned in the river.
- On October 26, 2008, the Boeing 707 celebrated 50 years of service as a passenger aircraft in Iran as the first jet in aviation history with a scheduled flight of Saha Air from Tehran-Mehrabad to Mashhad . The anniversary flight with flight number IRZ160 ended after a flight time of just under 20 minutes due to technical problems with the aircraft's hydraulics with a successful emergency landing in Tehran-Mehrabad.
- On January 14, 2019, a Boeing 707-3J9C (EP-CPP) landed on a cargo flight from Bishkek to Karaj at 8:30 in the morning on the smaller Fath airfield, 10 kilometers away, on whose runway, which is only around 1130 meters long, the Machine could not be brought to a standstill. The aircraft rolled over the end of the runway, broke through a concrete wall and ultimately went up in flames in a row of houses. Of the 16 people on board, only the flight engineer was rescued alive from the wreck. The plane had been leased from the Iranian Air Force.
