Karun Airlines ( Persian هواپیمایی کارون), until September 2017 Naft Airlines ( Persian هواپیمائی نفت) is an Iranian airline based in Tehran and based at Ahvaz Airport .

history

Naft Airlines was founded in 1992 as Iranian Air Transport and has been called Naft Airlines since 2009. Naft means oil and the airline is owned by former employees of the Iranian national oil company.

In summer 2016 it became known that the company intends to buy ten new medium-haul aircraft from Airbus . Compared to the aircraft of the type Fokker 50 and Fokker 100 that have been used up to now , the capacity should be increased significantly.

In September 2017 it was decided to rename the airline to Karun Airlines .

Karun Airlines flies to numerous destinations in Iran from Ahvaz .
