Aria Air ( Persian هواپیمایی آریا) is an Iranian airline based in Tehran and based at Tehran-Mehrabad Airport .

history

Aria Air was founded in 2000 as Aria Air Tour by the flight captains Asghar Abdollahpour and Mahdi Dadpei and started operations at the same time. Two days after the accident on Aria Air flight 1525 on July 24, 2009, the company's license was withdrawn by the Iranian aviation safety authority until the accident was fully investigated, but has since been resumed.

In July 2014, the two Fokker 50s could no longer be used from July 2014 due to a government decree due to their age.

  • On November 13, 2000, an Aria Air Yakovlev was kidnapped on a flight from Ahvaz to Bandar Abbas . The plane was stormed by the Revolutionary Guard to free the passengers , one crew member and two Revolutionary Guardsmen were injured. There were no dead.
  • 24 July 2009 at 18:10 on was Mashhad International Airport while landing of Aria Air Flight 1525 one built in 1989, but little flown Ilyushin Il-62 with the air vehicle registration number 16208 UP- of DETA Air destroyed, who operated the flight for Aria Air. 17 people including CEO Mehdi Dadpei, his son and 13 crew members were killed; another 19 were injured. The reason was that the pilot landed the machine relatively late and too quickly (at 317 km / h instead of the permitted 250 km / h) on the 3800-meter-long runway 13L . As a result, the machine rolled over the end of the runway and hit a mound about 1000 meters later, destroying the front fuselage section. The aircraft was only leased to the airline in May 2009 and had previously been part of Interflug's fleet (aircraft registration number DDR-SEY ).
