Homayun Gharavi

Homayun Gharavi-Nouri (born July 30, 1968 in Tehran ) is an Iranian-German doctor and sports scientist . Gharavi looked after numerous top athletes and associations as a medical advisor.

Life

Gharavi was born in Tehran as the son of Iranian diplomats and came to Germany as a child. In 1988 he began studying medicine and sports science at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , which he received in 1996 as Dr. med. and as Dr. disc. pole. completed. From 1997 to 2001 he was a scholarship holder at the University of California, Davis , in the sports medicine Athletic Training Team under Jeff Hogan .

In 2003 he founded the German Academy for Applied Sports Medicine (DAASM) based in Regensburg . At this time, the close collaboration with pain researcher Toni Graf-Baumann (chairman of the FIFA doping control committee) and the physiotherapist and rehabilitation trainer for FC Bayern Munich Oliver Schmidtlein began . From 2006 to 2008 Homayun Gharavi worked as an association doctor and fitness coach for the American Football Association in Bavaria.

In 2009 and 2010 Gharavi was a team doctor who looked after the A-team of the German Swimming Association . 2010 Gharavi accompanied the Russian national swimmer , Anastassija Valerjewna Fessikowa , from the injury back to the world championship title in Shanghai 2011. In 2012, he accompanied the Olympic selection of Russian swimmers to the Olympic Summer Games in London 2012 as a fitness coach. Gharavi works with numerous national coaches from various sports, such as Martin Hanselmann (American football player in Germany), James Gibson (British swimmer) and Jürgen Klinsmann (German football coach), most recently in the run-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Gharavi is a critic of established training and therapy methods, such as muscle stretching, isometric stabilization training or common immobilization protocols after fractures and soft tissue injuries.

He developed an elastic sling training system, the 4D PRO Bungee Trainer , which he launched in 2012.

In 2010 Gharavi was the initiator and vice-president of the World Summit of interdisciplinary Sports Medicine and Athletic Care in Zeulenroda .
