The New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic 2019 was the 79th New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic and took place on January 1, 2019 at the Wiener Musikverein . Christian Thielemann stood at the conductor's podium for the first time .


Among other things, feeders were dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Vienna State Opera and were intended to honor 150 years of trade relations between Japan and Austria.

The ballet performances of the Vienna State Ballet were staged by Henning Kasten in the summer of 2018 as for the 2018 concert . Six works were performed for the first time as part of a New Year's concert by the Vienna Philharmonic: the Schönfeld March by Carl Michael Ziehrer , the Eva waltz from Ritter Pásmán and the Polka Schnell Express by Johann Strauss (son) , the polka francaise Die Dancerin by Josef Strauss , the Polka française opera soiree by Eduard Strauss and Josef Hellmesberger's Entr'acte Valse .

The intermission film for the New Year's Concert 2019 entitled Wiener Staatsoper 1869 - 2019 was designed by Felix Breisach . In it, ensembles of the Vienna Philharmonic and ensemble members of the State Opera played at various locations in and around the building opened by Franz Joseph I in 1869 , including Camilla Nylund and Adrian Eröd with a duet from the bat and Daniela Fally and Rafael Fingerlos as Papagena and Papageno. In the ballet studio was to the sound of Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov danced.

The audio double CD of this concert was released on January 7, 2019 and is one of the best-selling albums of 2019 in Austria . DVD and Blu Ray Disc was released on January 25, 2019.
