Andrey Kaydanovskiy

Andrey Kaydanovskiy (Russian: Андрей Кайдано́вский; born 1987 in Moscow ) is a Russian ballet dancer and choreographer who lives and works in Vienna .

life and work

Andrey Kaydanovskiy is the son of a ballerina and the actor and film director Alexander Leonidowitsch Kaidanowski (1946-1995). He has two siblings.

He studied dance at the Moscow State Academy for Choreography , at the Ballet Conservatory in St. Pölten, at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart and at the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera . Since 2007 he has been engaged as a dancer with the Vienna State Ballet , the company of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper . He has worked with a number of well-known choreographers, including Roland Petit , Pierre Lacotte , John Neumeier , Paul Lightfoot , Sol Leon , Jorma Elo , Alexander Ekman , Jean-Christophe Maillot and Boris Eifman .

Kaydanovskiy has also been working as a choreographer since 2009. His first work for the Vienna State Ballet was a waste of time , created in April 2013. In October of the same year, the one-act play The Ugly Duckling followed at the Volksoper. In May 2014 he choreographed the opening of the Life Ball on Vienna's Rathausplatz, in September 2014 he created the Love Song for "Young Choreographers 2014" at the Odeon Theater in Vienna.

In 2015 he was appointed demi-soloist of the State Ballet.

The following year he choreographed the production Tea or coffee? For the Intersection Point project at the Stanislavsky and Nemirowitsch Danchenko Music Theaters in Moscow . , for which he was nominated twice for the Golden Mask . This was followed in 2017 by Stravinsky's Firebird at the Vienna State Ballet and a solo for Sergei Polunin at the Origen Festival Cultural in Graubünden, Switzerland. In 2018, Kaydanovskiy was invited by the Vienna Philharmonic to choreograph the ballet for the 2019 New Year's Concert . Christian Thielemann conducted it and the costumes were designed by the Milan-based fashion designer Arthur Arbesser .

Andrey Kaydanovskiy lives with the Austrian ballet dancer Rebecca Horner , they have a daughter who was born in 2011.
