Olga Esina ( Russian Ольга Есина ; * 1986 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian ballet dancer . From 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the Mariinsky Theater Ballet . Since 2006 she has been the solo dancer of the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper , since 2010 she has been the principal dancer of the Vienna State Ballet.

Life

From 1996 to 2004 Esina studied in her hometown at the Vaganova Ballet Academy with Lyudmila Kovaleva.

From 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the ballet of the Mariinsky Theater , where she was seen as Odette / Odile in Swan Lake , in the role of the Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote and as the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty . In 2006 she moved to Vienna , where she has since performed as a solo dancer in the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper. Since September 1st, 2010 she has been principal dancer of the Vienna State Ballet.

She had television appearances with the broadcasts of the New Year's Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic and the opening of the Vienna Opera Ball .

In June 2014 she married the first solo dancer of the Vienna State Opera Kirill Kourlaev. In March 2017, the two parents had a daughter.

In 2017 and 2018 she took over the artistic direction of the Weltstar-Gala at the Vienna Volkstheater . In November 2019 she premiered with the ballet Jewels by choreographer George Balanchine .
