Spherical sounds
Spheres sounds is a waltz by Josef Strauss ( op. 235).
Summary
The waltz was premiered on January 21, 1868 in the Sofiensaal in Vienna on the occasion of a medicine ball . As a rule, the organizers could determine the title of the dedication. Presumably this was different in the case of the medicine ball. The work written by Josef Strauss for this event was announced under the name "Spherical Sounds", but this designation was not appropriate for a medical ball night.
The Austrian daily foreign newspaper wrote on January 22nd, 1868
"The melodies of this waltz were better than their title because it made a strange impression to be musically reminded of the afterlife at the medicine ball of all places."
In the UFA film Der Kongress tanzt , Werner Richard Heymann makes use of the Strauss waltz spherical sounds at key points .
