Adrian Eröd

Adrian Eröd (* 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer with a baritone voice . He is the son of the Hungarian-born composer Iván Eröd , his mother, Marie-Luce Guy, comes from France.

Career

Adrian Eröd attended the Akademisches Gymnasium Graz as a student and passed his school leaving examination in 1988. After studying with Walter Berry and Franz Lukasovsky at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, he successfully took part in several competitions. He won the George London Scholarship and was awarded the Eberhard Wächter Medal in 1998 for his interpretations of Billy Budd in the opera of the same name by Benjamin Britten and Count Almaviva in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro .

He works as a concert singer with conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Sir Simon Rattle , Riccardo Muti , Helmuth Rilling and Fabio Luisi .

Adrian Eröd has been engaged at the Vienna State Opera since 2003 , where he was already seen in 2001 as Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette . His important roles at the State Opera are Papageno ( Die Zauberflöte ), Beckmesser ( Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg ), Marcello ( La Bohème ), Conte Almaviva ( Le nozze di Figaro ), Figaro ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Lescaut (Massenet: Manon and Puccini: Manon Lescaut ), The Chosen One ( Jacob's Ladder ), Paolo ( Simon Boccanegra ), Don Giulio Gesualdo ( Gesualdo ), Dr. Falke ( Die Fledermaus ), Guglielmo ( Così fan tutte ), Albert ( Werther ), De Siriex ( Fedora ), Loge ( Das Rheingold ) and finally Jason ( Aribert Reimann's Medea ). In the summer of 2009 he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Beckmesser, a role which he performed with great success at the Cologne Opera in 2012.

He was engaged at the Vienna Chamber Opera , the Mozart Festival in Schönbrunn , the Neue Oper Vienna , the Bregenz State Theater, the Linz State Theater , the Salzburg State Theater and the KlangBogen Summer Festival in Vienna. At the Linz State Theater, where he was permanently engaged from 1997, he sang, among others, Figaro (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Dandini ( Rossini : La Cenerentola ), Marcello ( Puccini : La Bohème ), Pelléas ( Debussy : Pelléas et Mélisande ) and Olivier (Strauss: Capriccio ). Between 2000 and 2003 Adrian Eröd was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper , where he sang Don Giovanni (Mozart: Don Giovanni ), Prosdocimo (Rossini: Il turco in Italia ) and Peter ( Lortzing : Zar und Zimmermann ), among others . In 2003 he made his debut at the Teatro La Fenice as Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos .
