Doris Schmidauer
Doris Schmidauer (born September 21, 1963 in Grieskirchen , Upper Austria ) is the wife of the incumbent Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen .
Life
Doris Schmidauer, born in Grieskirchen in Upper Austria, grew up in Peuerbach, only a few kilometers away . Here she attended elementary school and then the secondary school in Wels , which girls attended . After graduation Schmidauer moved to Vienna , where they at the city's University political science studied. As a young woman she was one of the squatters of the Hainburger Au .
She has been a member of the Greens since 1989 after helping Peter Pilz to lead the committee of inquiry into the Noricum scandal . From 1996 to 1999 she was the parliamentary assistant of her future husband and chairman of the Greens, Alexander Van der Bellen. She married him in December 2015.
From 1999 to 2018 she was managing director of the parliamentary club of the Greens.
According to the Austrian Presidential Office , she has been working as a freelance business consultant since February 2018 .
