Josef Reif (horn player)

Josef Reif (born January 10, 1980 in Amstetten ( Lower Austria )) is an Austrian horn player .

Life

Josef Reif got at the age of 10 years his first horn lessons, already with 15 years, he began his horn studies at the Vienna horn at Roland Berger at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . He graduated from Thomas Jöbstl in 2007 with distinction.

From September 2003 to February 2013, Reif had an engagement in the orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper as solo horn player, and since March 1, 2013 he has been principal horn player in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra . In 2016 he followed Wolfgang Tomböck jun. as principal horn with the Vienna Philharmonic .

In addition to his orchestral work, Reif is a member of ensembles such as the “Vienna Horns”, the “Theophil Ensemble Wien” or the horn quintet “The Matterhorns”.
