Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla (born May 1, 1970 in Barcelona ), also known as Juanma Moreno for short , is a Spanish politician of the conservative PP . He has been Prime Minister of the Region of Andalusia since January 18, 2019 .

biography

Moreno is the son of Andalusian parents who lived in Barcelona at the time of his birth. Just three months after his birth, the family returned to Málaga , where Moreno grew up.

In 1989 Moreno entered the PP. From 1995 to 1997 he was a member of the Malaga City Council . During this period he was also regional chairman of the PP junior organization Nuevas Generaciones .

In 1997 he was elected to the regional parliament of Andalusia, to which he belonged until 2000. From 1997 to 2001 he was also chairman of the Nuevas Generaciones for the whole of Spain.

From 2000 to 2011 Moreno was a member of the Spanish House of Representatives . He resigned his mandate when he moved to the Spanish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs as State Secretary in 2011 . He held this office until he returned to Andalusian regional policy in 2014 as regional chairman of the PP.

From 2014 to 2017 Moreno sat for Andalusia in the Spanish Senate . Since 2015 he has been a member of the regional parliament of Andalusia again.

After the 2018 election , Moreno was elected Prime Minister of the region on January 16, 2019 with the votes of PP, Ciudadanos and VOX . He heads a coalition government made up of PP and Ciudadanos .

Moreno has a Masters in Event Management.

Private

Moreno is married and has three children.
