In a telephone conversation with Great Britain's Foreign Minister David Miliband in September 2008, a few weeks after the August war , Lavrov reportedly asked his counterparts to lecture me with the words "Who the fuck are you to lecture me?" ) have insulted. A day later, Lavrov put his statement into perspective at a press conference in Sukhumi : “Miliband repeatedly tried to praise Saakashvili as a great diplomat. I only quoted a quote from one of my European colleagues about Saakashvili and did not use swear words myself. "

In August 2015 Lavrov made another foul expression when he cursed the “fools” present at a press conference with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia in Moscow. However, it was unclear who exactly he meant by that.

During the inaugural visit of the new German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas , he called for more honesty . Lavrov's statements at this meeting, however, testified, according to the NZZ, of a “shocking historical oblivion”.

Lisa case

Lavrov intervened personally in the affair surrounding the alleged rape of a Russian-German girl from Berlin by refugees in January 2016 and accused the German investigative authorities of deliberately covering up the matter when investigating the case: "I hope that these migration problems don't lead to an attempt, reality to paint over politically correct for some domestic political reasons. ”The German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier then sharply criticized his Russian counterpart and warned against using the untruthful reports for“ political propaganda ”.
