  • Ubari / Libya : The Libyan National Army (LNA) under General Chalifa Haftar has regained control of the important "El Sharara" oil field west of Ubari after production was stopped in early December 2018. A local, partly armed protest movement (Anger of Fezzan) called for better conditions. The oil company criticized the behavior of the local security militia, the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG). The National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the Akakus Oil Operations (AOO) joint venture produce 315,000 barrels per day in the oil field . The European oil companies Repsol (Spain), Total (France), OMV (Austria) and Equinor (Norway) are also involved in Akakus Oil Operations .

US President Donald Trump signed a national declaration of emergency
  • Washington, DC / United States : US President Donald Trump announces an emergency regulation for the southern border of the United States on the basis of the emergency power of attorney of the "National Emergencies Act" of 1976 with the aim of curbing drug smuggling into the United States, including through gangs such as the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) and through illegal immigration. Trump is responding to the refusal of the US Congress to provide 5.7 billion US dollars for the complete construction of a steel wall along the border with Mexico . In the settlement in the budget dispute, the Trump administration can only set up border barriers for around 55 miles (88.5 kilometers) under the budget law with the approved 1.375 billion US dollars. The first construction is planned in the Rio Grande Valley in the US state of Texas . As part of the national emergency, additional funding of around US $ 600 million from the Treasury Forfeiture Fund (TFF) of the US Treasury , 2.5 billion from the US Department of Defense budget (including anti-drug funds) and US $ 3.6 billion for military construction by the US Department of Defense to build the border wall, among others, by the United States Army Corps of Engineers .

  • San Francisco / United States : The US fashion group Gap Inc. announces the planned split of the company by 2020. Thereafter, a separate company will be created with the Old Navy brand and another company with the temporary name NewCo will include the fashion labels Gap , Banana Republic , Athleta , Intermix and Hill City .
