top agrar is a monthly agricultural magazine. It is published by the Landwirtschaftsverlag in Münster and reports on various key topics from agriculture. Every month, the basic booklet offers up-to-date specialist information on the main topics of management / money, taxes and insurance, production on arable land and grassland, agricultural technology and construction, new energy, market and prices, as well as household and family. The reader can also choose the special programs for cattle and / or pig farming. The circulation sold in the second quarter of 2018 was 100,806 copies, and according to the publisher it is the agricultural trade magazine with the highest circulation in the German-speaking area. In Austria and Switzerland , top agrar appears with country-specific supplements. There is also a Polish version of the magazine as well as special issues for the Eastern European and Russian markets.

Prices

In 2007, the German trade press named top agrar the trade journal of the year in the field of craft / agriculture. In addition, the jury selected the top agrar editor Ralf Lenge (technology) as the journalist of the year for the article “Asse des Ackers” (issue 12/2006).

In 2009 the journal received the 3rd prize of the German trade press for the contribution "Agricultural research on the sidelines" by Hildegard Moritz.

In 2013 top agrar received the award from the German trade press as “Specialist Medium of the Year 2013” ​​in the Agriculture / Food category. Matthias Schulze Steinmann, meanwhile deputy editor-in-chief of the agricultural weekly newspaper Westfalen-Lippe, received the Karl-Theodor-Vogel-Preis of the German trade press as “Specialist Journalist of the Year 2013” ​​for the article “There is a gold rush mood” in the top-agrar edition June 2012 was published.

In 2018, Patrick Liste from the top agrar editorial team received an award from the Association of German Agricultural Journalists as part of the “Green Reportage” competition for his contribution “Retail is entering the dairy business”. The article appeared in the 9/2017 issue of top agrar and convinced the jury as the best specialist article.

At the beginning of 2011, top-agrar-Online was relaunched . With an average of 590,800 visits and 2.2 million page views in 2011 (IVW), the website is an important source of information for agriculture.
