Karl Theodor Vogel Prize
The " Karl Theodor Vogel Prize of the German Trade Press - Specialist Journalist of the Year" is an award for specialist journalists in German-speaking countries. The prize has been awarded by the Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation in cooperation with the Association of German Trade Press since 2005 and annually honors three specialist journalists and their contributions to specialist media. From 2005 to 2017 the award was endowed with 15,000 euros: first place was awarded 7,500 euros, the second with 5,000 and the third with 2,500. The award is intended to support editorial quality and specialist journalistic services, thereby promoting the reputation and interests of German specialist publishers. The foundation was founded in 1984 by Karl Theodor Vogel, a former senior publisher of the Vogel media group in Würzburg . The prize is awarded every year at the evening event of the Congress of the German Trade Press, first in Wiesbaden, then in Essen and from 2015 alternately in Frankfurt and Berlin. Since 2018, the prize has been awarded exclusively in Berlin.
The ten-member jury consists of editors-in-chief from various specialist media and those responsible for editorial work from various specialist publishers. It is chaired by Lutz Frühbrodt , foundation professor of "Journalism and Corporate Communication" at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt .
You can only submit text contributions that you have written yourself (print or online). The contributions must have been published in German in a specialist medium in the DA-CH region in the year of the announcement . Articles from special interest titles, popular magazines, daily newspapers and books are excluded. The German trade press provides the specification for the definition of the " specialist media ".
Different forms of contribution can be submitted: report, reportage, essay, company / person portrait, interview, user report, market analysis, comment / gloss or feature.
