Badgam (also Budgam ) is a city ( Municipal Committee ) in the west of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir .
It forms the administrative seat of the district of the same name . In the 2011 census, the population was 15,338. Almost 83% Muslims and 13.5% Hindus live in the city .
The city of Badgam is located in the Kashmir Valley on the southern outskirts of Srinagar at an altitude of 1624 m . Srinagar Airport is east of Badgam. Badgam train station is 3 km north of the city center on the Baramulla – Srinagar railway line.
