Moutaz Mousa Abdallah ( Arabic معتز موسى عبد الله, DMG Muʿtaz Mūsā ʿAbd Allāh ; * 1967 ) is a Sudanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Sudan from September 10, 2018 to February 22, 2019. Prior to his appointment, he had been Minister for Irrigation and Electricity.

Career

Moutaz Moussa Abdallah, born in 1967, received his doctorate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Khartoum in the early 1990s and has two master's degrees, one in translation from the University of Khartoum and another in political science from Al-Zaim al-Azhary University .

In the early 1990s he was one of the founders of the Dam Construction Unit, previously working in the Foreign Ministry before becoming ambassador to Germany. The Dam Construction Unit facilitates the construction of dams within Sudan and contributes to the cooperation with Arab, Saudi and Kuwaiti investors and helps as a project manager in the financing of dam projects in the country.

From December 2013 to September 2018 he was Minister for Water Resources and Electricity.

He was appointed Prime Minister by the country's president, Omar al-Bashir , and replaced Bakri Hassan Saleh after the government was dissolved. The government was dissolved after protests over shortages of bread, fuel, hard currencies and high inflation . On February 22, 2019, President Bashir deposed the entire government and declared a state of emergency for one year. Kommissarisch was Mohamed Tahir Ayala appointed as the new prime minister.
