Bakri Hassan Saleh

Bakri Hassan Saleh ( Arabic بكري حسن صالح, DMG Bakrī Ḥasan Ṣāliḥ ; * 1949 in Dunqula ) is a Sudanese military and politician. He was first Vice President since 2013 and Prime Minister of Sudan since 2017, before being deposed on September 9, 2018.

Saleh was a general in the Sudanese army . He became a lieutenant in 1971 and was head of the special forces from 1985 to 1987 and from 1988 to 1989 . He took part in the 1989 military coup and was a member of the revolutionary command council.

From 1990 to 1995 he headed the national security service and held various cabinet positions in the following years. From 1995 to 1998 Saleh was Minister of the Interior, from 1998 to 2000 and from 2005 to 2013 Minister for Presidential Affairs, from 2000 to 2005 he headed the Ministry of Defense . After the unrest in 2013, he became the first Vice President. On March 2, 2017, he was also given the newly created office of Prime Minister.
